Nonimmigrant Visas: Temporary Employment & Business

Urgent information for Visa Applicants:

The U.S. Embassy in Mozambique would like to announce the resumption of routine visa services for applicants travelling for business (B1), Tourism (B2)  or a combination of both purposes (B1/B2). At this time, we are only accepting applications from residents in Mozambique.* U.S. Embassy Maputo will schedule routine visa services while implementing COVID-19 mitigation measures to safeguard our staff and consular customers, including physical distancing in our waiting room, frequent disinfection of high touch areas, and scheduling fewer interviews at a time.

*CDC guidelines for quarantine following international travel prevent us from assisting applicants from outside Mozambique.

Temporary employment visas are for persons who want to enter the United States for employment lasting a fixed period of time, and are not considered permanent or indefinite. Each of these visas requires the prospective employer to first file a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). An approved petition is required to apply for a temporary employment visa.

See our Temporary Employment Visa Categories on usvisas.state.gov to determine which visa category might be appropriate for your purpose of travel to the United States.
