U.S. Embassy Statement on the Passing of Former Prime Minister Pascoal Manuel Mocumbi
March 27, 2023 – The United States mourns the passing of former Prime Minister Pascoal Manuel Mocumbi, who passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends. We honor his long service and commitment to Mozambique, first as one of the founding members of the Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (FRELIMO), then as Minister of Health, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and finally Prime Minister. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Mozambicans to build a prosperous, healthy, secure, and democratic nation.
