The United States released the 2020 Country Report on Terrorism on December 16, which offers a detailed look at the state of counterterrorism worldwide, including in Mozambique. The U.S. Embassy recognizes that Mozambique has made gains against ISIS-Mozambique in 2021 in Cabo Delgado and notes that the timely interventions by Mozambican forces working with Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community have resulted in critical gains. The U.S. government supports the Government of Mozambique in its efforts to fight terrorism, counter violent extremism, address underlying drivers of conflict, and respond to the related humanitarian crisis in Cabo Delgado in 2021.
