The U.S. Embassy Maputo informs U.S. citizens of reported clashes on Friday September 25 allegedly between government security forces and a convoy from the opposition party Renamo in Manica Province near Chimoio. Exchanges of gunfire were reported starting around 1200 noon along the N6 between Gondola and Inchope around the village of Maforga. Reports indicate casualties of Renamo guards and possibly civilians. This is the second such incident in less than two weeks. A similar exchange of gunfire was reported on September 12 approximately 15 km from Chimoio.
