Death of Mahamudo Amurane, Mayor of Nampula City
October 5, 2017 – In light of the events of October 4, 2017, that led to the tragic death of The Honorable Mahamudo Amurane, Mayor of the City of Nampula, the Embassy of the United States of America expresses its sincere condolences to the people of Nampula, and especially to the Mayor’s family and friends.
The Embassy was privileged to have enjoyed a strong working relationship with the Honorable Mayor, and we greatly appreciated his leadership in our joint development projects and his passion for improving the lives of his fellow citizens in Nampula. His murder is a loss to us all.
The Embassy of the United States condemns in the strongest possible terms those responsible for this brutal and detestable act and hopes that a speedy and thorough investigation of this crime will bring its perpetrators to justice.
